Technical Assistance

Next Move NY staff works closely with transitioning Soldiers, spouses and veterans to assist with the transition from the military to jobs in the region. Staff provides real-time, one-on-one assistance to make employment in the region a streamlined and successful experience.

Understanding the skills and capabilities of Soldiers transitioning from military positions can be difficult to translate into civilian positions in the workforce. Next Move NY staff works with employers to better understand how military skills apply to workforce needs to make sure that they do not miss out on that perfect employee.

Next Move NY Programs

Next Move NY Veterans Ambassador Program

The Veterans Ambassador Program recruits’ veterans working in companies from across the region to help mentor and recruit transitioning Soldiers, spouses and veterans to North Country jobs. Veterans have stood in the same shoes as the transitioning Soldiers and are uniquely suited in helping connect transitioning Fort Drum Soldiers to meaningful careers.

Program to launch in August 2025.

Next Move NY Career Connect Program

The Career Connect Program supplements the existing Fort Drum Transition Assistance Program by providing additional resources for assisting transitional Soldiers, spouses and veterans in finding and securing jobs in the region. Next Move NY staff works with employers to establish apprenticeship and internship programs, with a focus on key industry sectors including manufacturing, agribusiness, and others, for transitioning Soldiers, spouses and veterans to gain valuable on the job skills with the potential to move into full-time roles or start their own businesses with the skills they have acquired.

Program to launch in August 2025.

Next Move NY Employer Incentive Program

The Employer Incentive Program incentives employers to recruit and train transitioning Soldiers. The program helps overcome critical obstacles like transportation or housing to recruiting transitioning Soldiers, spouses and veterans to other areas of the region by employers during an apprenticeship or internship. The Program helps employers provide these resources to transitioning Soldiers, spouses and veterans to encourage job training programs across the region.

Program to launch in August 2025.

Live, Love, Stay

This program will be a network of recreational and cultural amenities and destinations to expose Soldiers, spouses and veterans to the North Country. The goal is to encourage transitioning Soldiers and their spouses to put down roots in the region and call it HOME. The Live, Love, Stay program is administered by Advocate Drum.
