That’s why we built Next Move NY’s real-time Job Portal. Powered by Oplign, this free portal is specifically geared towards connecting transitioning Soldiers, military spouses and veterans with real-time employment opportunities and fulfilling career paths. Getting Started - Transitioning Soldiers and Veterans
To sign up for the job portal, visit nextmoveny.com and find Job Portal on the homepage or under Programs.
Select Veterans, VetStudent or NG/Reservist to get started.
Registration Dashboard
On the registration dashboard, add your contact information followed by your military experience (and/or education, if you have been out of the service for a few years).
After entering your information, click Save.

Email confirmation
After entering your initial information, you will be sent a confirmation email. Click the link in the email to confirm your address and log in to start the initial skills alignment.
Skills Alignment
The job portal’s initial skills alignment process lets you share your skills in great detail to match you with the right opportunities. Select only what is relevant to your experience and MOS.
View initial roles and continue refining your skills
After you complete the Initial Skills Alignment Pathway, you will be able to explore the first batch of job opportunities and sort them by role, area, company, state or country. You can also further enhance and refine your skills to see roles that are even more aligned to your MOS.
Click on a role to explore specific job listings.

After further refining your skills, you will arrive at the Job Seeker dashboard. When you click Jobs on the left-hand side, you can look for real-time opportunities, internships and more.
Click My Job Alignment to explore jobs.

When you click on a company and view a job opportunity, you will see the option to Build Resume. Build Resume will create a tailored resume for this specific opportunity.
Use Click & Apply to submit your application.
getting started - military spouses
The registration process will look a bit different for military spouses. After selecting your highest level of education, you must add your associated family member’s military branch, add the role or job function you’re currently filling (or want to pursue), and add the years of experience you have in that current or desired role. If you have no experience in that role, select 1 year.

You can then review the initial list of roles based on the information you have provided. You can also continue enhancing your profile with additional skills.

Click Edit Profile under “Networked Resume” to build a stronger resume for better job alignments.
