On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Next Move NY’s Regional Business Liaison, Sarah Wilder, attended the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Business Resources Mixer at the Best Western Inn in Canton, NY. Connecting with local employers and community leaders in St. Lawrence County is a key part of Sarah’s role and critical to fulfilling Next Move NY’s mission.
Local businesses from St. Lawrence County and Franklin County attended the event to network and find resources to support their organizations. Sarah met with a dozen local employers to share Next Move NY’s services for transitioning Soldiers, military spouses and veterans across the North Country, such as:
- Our free Job Matching Portal, in partnership with Oplign, connects employers to Fort Drum’s robust transitioning military community.
- Internship opportunities for SkillBridge-approved training programs now available in the portal, along with apprenticeships through SUNY and the NYS Department of Labor.
- The Veterans Ambassador Program, which strengthens the professional network for transitioning Soldiers, military spouses and veterans in their preferred industry through 1:1 mentoring with an industry leader.
Next Move NY is fortifying community connections with Fort Drum and our military community for those looking to make the North Country, and New York State, their final home.
